The Challenge: Stubborn Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) & Surface Texture
As aesthetic professionals, we often face a specific dilemma: how to aggressively target dark spots and follicular congestion without causing the inflammation that triggers further pigmentation. For a 27-year-old client with active PIH, traditional "scrubbing" or high-heat treatments can be counterproductive.
This case study highlights a balanced, multi-modality approach that prioritizes cellular oxygenation and stabilized nutrient infusion to reveal a smoother, more radiant complexion in a single session.
The Initial Assessment:
- Skin Condition: Dull, congested, and prone to Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH).
- Visible Symptoms: Noticeable "dark spots" from previous breakouts, uneven surface texture, and localized follicular congestion.
- Primary Goal: Refine skin texture and inhibit pigment production while maintaining barrier integrity.

The Strategy: Controlled Resurfacing Meets Deep Oxygenation
Instead of a single-modality approach, we combined chemical exfoliation with the healing power of Zemits oxygen and light technologies. This ensures that the "trauma" of the peel is immediately mitigated by high-purity oxygen and biostimulation.
The Core Zemits & Professional Modalities:
- Linder Hero Peel: For controlled chemical resurfacing.
- DermeDrop™ + Zemits LuminOxy Pro: High-pressure infusion of stabilized Vitamin C.
- Zemits OxiVelour: Oxygen Dome therapy for rapid recovery.
- Vivalumix LED: To stimulate ATP production and soothe reactivity.

The Step-by-Step "Brighten & Breathe" Protocol
This protocol uses a "Prep-Peel-Protect" arc to ensure maximum efficacy with zero downtime.
Phase 1: Barrier-First Preparation
- Double Cleanse (4 mins): Using Le Mieux Phyto-Nutrient and Peptide Foam cleansers. This ensures the skin is stripped of lipids but not moisture, allowing for even acid penetration.
- Enzyme Prep (8 mins): Application of Hungarian Enzyme Mask under steam. This softens the keratinized surface cells, essentially "opening the door" for the Linder Hero Peel.
Phase 2: Corrective Resurfacing
- Light Peel (5 mins): The Linder Hero Peel pads were used to target pigment and texture.
- Neutralization: Immediately followed by cool sponges and Iso-Cell Recovery Solution to stabilize the skin’s pH.
Phase 3: The Zemits Glow Infusion
- Vitamin C Infusion (8 mins): Utilizing the DermeDrop™ system with Zemits LuminOxy Pro. Delivering Vitamin C post-peel is critical as the skin’s absorption pathways are at their peak.
- Oxygen Dome Therapy (8 mins): The patient was placed under the Zemits OxiVelour Dome. This floods the tissue with purified oxygen, reducing the erythema (redness) typically seen after a chemical peel.
- Red LED Therapy (8 mins): Vivalumix Red Light was applied to boost cellular energy and ensure the skin barrier begins its repair process immediately.
Phase 4: Cold-Calming
- Cooling Mask + Cold Tone (10 mins): A Lavender Floral Mask was applied and worked in with Cold Skin Toning. This "seals" the products and constricts capillaries to leave the skin calm and porcelain-like.
Clinical Pearl: Why the Oxygen-LED Combo?
In this protocol, we use Zemits OxiVelour immediately followed by Vivalumix Red LED.
The Science: Red light stimulates the mitochondria to produce ATP. By providing a high-oxygen environment (via the Dome) just before or during light therapy, we provide the "fuel" (oxygen) that the mitochondria need to maximize energy production. This results in faster healing and a more significant "glow" than using either modality alone.
The Results
The transformation was visible the moment the Oxygen Dome was removed.
- Luminosity: A significant "lit-from-within" radiance.
- Texture: Follicular congestion was visibly reduced.
- Pigmentation: While PIH takes a series to fully clear, the dark spots appeared softer and less inflamed.

Immediate post-treatment results: Note the refined texture and significantly increased dermal radiance.
Why This Protocol Works for Your Spa
By integrating Zemits OxiVelour and Vivalumix LED into your peel protocols, you can offer more aggressive resurfacing with less risk. This "Safe-Correction" approach increases client retention and allows you to treat sensitive, pigment-prone skin with confidence.
Series Recommendation: we recommend a series of 4–6 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart, transitioning to maintenance every other month.
